Amanda Anisimova just broke into the Top 10 thanks to her Wimbledon final. Unfortunately for her, the American lost 6-0, 6-0, a result that could have a negative impact on her future.

For Jimmy Connors, quoted by *The Tennis Gazette*, she must not let it get her down: "I hope it doesn't discourage her. It's a tough blow. But I hope it doesn't discourage her because she’s come a long way.

She has that little something that says, ‘No matter the score, I’m going to keep watching.’ I saw part of her semifinal and how she played and overcame adversity.

There’s something about her that captivates me. I don’t know if it’s her style, her attitude, or just her way of doing things. I haven’t seen her play enough yet, but she’s got something.

I’ll tell you this: tennis needs someone like her, someone who captivates you and keeps you watching no matter what.

Can anyone remember a women's player that had a humiliating melt down in a final who ever came back to be a good player ever again? I remember the Wimbledon where a lot of players went out earlier, blamed on the new grass surface, and left Bartoli and Lisicki in the final. At the beginning of the tournament, while Bartoli was a pretty solid player, she definitely wasn't expected to get to the final. Lisicki, who had solid service game, was expected to win the final match after making it to the final. Lisicki had a melt down, couldn't serve consistently and Bartoli won 6-1,6-4. I don't remember Lisicki ever doing well again.

From the Williams sisters to Alizé Cornet, from sponsors to the ATP and WTA tours, the debate over pay equality in tennis has never been more intense. Between undeniable progress and persistent inequalities, the king of racket sports finds itself facing its own contradictions.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
