I hope to return in January," Kokkinakis gives an update on his injury
In a podcast for Australian Open TV, Thanasi Kokkinakis discussed his pectoral injury, which required surgery last February. The Australian has slowly resumed training but will not return in 2025.
He states: "It's been 8 months since my surgery or since I last hit a ball, probably the longest stretch for me without touching a racket.
I went back on the courts last week and resumed training, very lightly, but better than I expected. It was a major surgery, so I'm happy to be back on the court—I was itching to return.
I was in Europe last week, telling myself I was ready to come back and get into it. The hardest part for me will be serving and playing practice matches again.
If all goes well, I hope to return in January—fingers crossed. I would love to make my comeback in Adelaide; we'll see how it goes.
