"I know that first title will come one day," insists Davidovich Fokina, beaten in three finals in 2025

Alejandro Davidovich Fokina is having a strong 2025 season. The consistent Spaniard has broken into the top 20 in recent weeks and reached a career-high ranking in early August (18th).
However, the 26-year-old is still missing a title on the main tour, having lost four finals since the start of his career (Monte-Carlo 2022, Delray Beach 2025, Acapulco 2025, Washington 2025), without ever managing to lift a trophy.
But Davidovich Fokina remains optimistic and is aware that he is on the right track, having already played three finals since the beginning of the year. He knows that if he continues to work, the reward will not be far away.
"I know I'm doing things right. I know that first title will come one day, and I think people expect it too. Maybe it won't be this year, but it will come.
I've already had opportunities that I didn't know how to seize. That's tennis. I know I'll have other chances later in my career, and ultimately, with these three finals I've played this year, I'm still learning.
If you take the final in Delray Beach (against Kecmanovic), I was leading 5-2, 40-15 in the third set. From there, I couldn't play my game anymore; I was too nervous.
After my losses, I received messages from Arthur (Fils), who I consider my best friend on the tour. Jiri (Lehecka) and Flavio (Cobolli) also comforted me.
Now I know how to bounce back after tough losses.
In tennis, you win and you lose every week; you have to learn to live with that. If you're well surrounded, your team understands the whole process.
They also know that you'll have other opportunities the following week. The most important thing is to learn from your mistakes and do everything to correct them," Davidovich Fokina told the media outlet Clay.
