"I like having time for myself, to be honest," says Alcaraz about the tournament grind
In an interview shared by *Tennis Up To Date*, Alcaraz reflected on the demanding back-to-back matches that a season on the tour entails. Though he deeply loves his sport, the Spaniard openly admits his regular need to take breaks to recharge:
"I like having time for myself, to be honest. I always say that’s also why we work, you know? I love playing tennis and I love being on the court, but sometimes it’s too many days, too many weeks in a row. So I love taking time for myself, with my family, with my friends, just at home, doing absolutely nothing. For me, it’s necessary to come back stronger and more motivated, to pick up my racket and hit a few balls again.
I had some great days after Roland-Garros, in Ibiza, then I came back stronger for the grass season, won the title at Queen’s and reached the final at Wimbledon, and then yes, I had a full week of rest. I went to southern Spain, which was amazing, and then spent two weeks at home, which was incredible."
Currently in Ohio (USA), Alcaraz has advanced to the third round of the Cincinnati Masters 1000. After his win against Dzumhur, he will face Serbia’s Medjedovic.
