"I’d like to keep playing very aggressively," Alcaraz reflects on his win against Dzumhur in Cincinnati
Carlos Alcaraz secured a hard-fought victory against Damir Dzumhur in his opening match at Cincinnati.
During the post-match press conference, he discussed the win and explained the playing style he aims to adopt for the tournament.
"I’d say I need to improve, of course. I started the match very well, I was feeling the ball really well, but here, if you lose control, even for just one, two, or three points, everything becomes much more complicated—it’s harder to bounce back.
Overall, I want to feel much better in my next match. I’d like to keep playing very aggressively. The conditions are very fast, so if you can attack early, everything improves significantly.
I want to make my opponents suffer and keep feeling better. This tournament is fantastic, the crowd is phenomenal. I’d love to play more matches here and keep improving day by day."
Alcaraz will face Hamad Medjedovic in the next round.
