Cincinnati Masters 1000: Zverev Makes a Strong Start, Medvedev Already Out

This Sunday in Cincinnati marked the end of the second round and, consequently, the final entries of the seeded players.
Daniil Medvedev faced Adam Walton, currently ranked 85th in the world. Despite falling behind a break in the first set, the Russian managed to clinch it in a tie-break, winning 7-0.
However, the momentum shifted afterward. The Australian broke his opponent’s serve at 5-4 to take the second set 6-4.
In the final set, Medvedev completely lost his footing and ultimately fell 6-7, 6-4, 6-1. This match marks Walton’s first victory against a Top 50 player.
Seeded third, Alexander Zverev made his debut against Nishesh Basavareddy. It was a straightforward match for the German, who won 6-3, 6-3 without facing a single break point.
He will face Brandon Nakashima in the next round.
