Ben Shelton has advanced to the third round of the US Open after defeating Pablo Carreno Busta in the second round.
Speaking at a press conference, he shared the aspect of his game that he has corrected to become more consistent.
In remarks relayed by Punto de Break, he stated: "I am increasingly comfortable in long baseline rallies, because I no longer need to be ultra-aggressive and go for broke on every point.
I have found a very solid average level that allows me to win points without having to be as spectacular. I may be a more boring tennis player now, but it has also made me much more effective and reliable."
Shelton will face Adrian Mannarino for a spot in the round of 16.
