I prefer not to get involved because I don’t play for money," Raducanu shares her opinion on prize money in women's tennis

I prefer not to get involved because I don’t play for money, Raducanu shares her opinion on prize money in women's tennis

Last week’s quarterfinalist at Queen’s, Emma Raducanu was asked in a press conference about the difference in prize money between the women’s and men’s tournaments.

Indeed, the women’s champion, Tatjana Maria, took home €141,000, while the men’s winner will earn €471,755. A notable difference that doesn’t particularly concern Raducanu:

"I’d rather not engage in this debate. I accept the situation as it is, and I’ll never take a stance. I feel like I don’t play for money. It’s not my priority. I’m never really involved in anything related to these decisions.

Of course, I have to cover the needs of my team, and it costs me a lot of money. Tennis is a very expensive sport, but money isn’t my main source of motivation.

Easy to take this view since she milked hundreds of millions following the US Open win.

She doesn't have the decency to take a stand for all those behind her who are struggling.

Losing respect for her.

The women do not play the same quantity, they do play anywhere near the same quality, they receive breaks the men do not, they do not bring in the same quality sponsors, they do not attract the same number of viewers, they do not attract the same number of attendees.
They do not even play with the same tennis balls!
All this together and they believe they should be paid the same. 🤣
This is what passes for woke modern day "equality".

The WTA is no more equal to the ATP than the WNBA is to the NBA.
