I received some very bad news, I'd like to keep it personal," Raducanu explains her tears

Emma Raducanu defeated Ann Li this Tuesday in the first round at Eastbourne. After match point, the British player broke down in tears.

When asked about it during the press conference, she explained: "I received some very bad news, so I'd like to keep it personal, but it was tough and very emotional in the end, and it was probably just a release of different emotions.

I'd rather not talk about it, but I just found out some very bad news, so I'm trying to deal with it deep down.

Mentally, in the first set, I wasn’t really at my best. Francesca Jones supported me because she’s a good friend, so she knows what’s going on behind the scenes.

Her support was invaluable. I want to thank the crowd for helping me through some very difficult moments. It really meant a lot to me, and I’m very proud of how I bounced back after losing the first set.
