Marta Kostyuk’s run in Montreal came to an end in the quarterfinals. The Ukrainian, ranked 28th in the world, was forced to retire during her match against Elena Rybakina (6-1, 2-1 ret.).

After her victories against Vondrousova, Kasatkina, and Kessler—each time after losing the first set—Kostyuk was unable to finish her match against the Kazakh player this time due to a right wrist injury.

On Instagram, the 23-year-old shared a message with her fans and hasn’t completely ruled out playing in the Cincinnati tournament, which begins in the coming days in Ohio.

"It’s hard to put into words how this week went. It ended painfully, but it was also one of the most fulfilling and enjoyable weeks I’ve had on tour.

I felt present, alive, and this week reminded me how much I love all of this. There were so many victories, on and off the court, that meant far more than any result.

These are moments that will stay with me long after this week. I leave Montreal with my head held high and my heart full of emotions. To everyone who came to see me, supported me, and sent me messages—thank you.

Things wouldn’t have been the same without you. I will do everything to be ready for Cincinnati. And I’m already looking forward to coming back here in two years to play in front of this incredible crowd again. All my love, Montreal," Kostyuk wrote on social media.

Omnipresent cameras, line judges on the verge of extinction, mistakes that persist nonetheless: technology fascinates as much as it divides. Tennis, at a crossroads, is still searching for its balance between progress and emotion.

As we move to the end of this month and also closing out the year I am wishing all of those following me a Merry Christmas and a Happy/Healthy New Year.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
