I wish I could have arrived better prepared," admits Musetti after being away from the courts before Wimbledon

Lorenzo Musetti is having a strong 2025 season, breaking into the top 10 during the clay-court swing with a final in Monte-Carlo followed by semifinal runs in Madrid, Rome, and Roland-Garros.
However, the Italian hit a setback in Paris when he was forced to retire during his semifinal against Carlos Alcaraz. Suffering a thigh injury, Musetti had to take time off and missed the tournaments in Stuttgart and Queen’s, where he was expected to compete.
As a result, he arrives at Wimbledon without having played a single match on grass, a year after reaching his first career semifinal at the event. During Media Day, he discussed his disrupted preparation:
"To be honest, I wasn’t really able to prepare for this tournament. But the most important thing is being healthy after that tough retirement at Roland-Garros. I spent two weeks without picking up a racket. Every day, I was in therapy and rehab—it wasn’t two weeks of vacation. I worked very hard to be ready.
I arrived just a week ago to train, but I’ve been sick these past few days. I wish I could have come better prepared because I have a semifinal to defend. I’d like to maintain the good form I’ve shown over the last few months.
The positive side is that I got to spend time with my family and friends. I also enjoyed Italy, which I hadn’t visited in a long time. I hope this time away from the courts will motivate me to defend my points here.
