I won't make the same mistakes against him," says Alcaraz ahead of his quarterfinal against Tommy Paul
Alcaraz will face Tommy Paul for a spot in the Roland-Garros semifinals. After defeating Shelton in the previous round, the Spaniard showed several inconsistencies in his game, which even cost him a set. Nevertheless, during the press conference, the El Palmar native stated he wouldn’t repeat the same mistakes against the American:
"I remember every match I’ve played against him has been really tough, whether in Grand Slams or Masters 1000. Every tournament where I’ve faced him hasn’t been easy at all. I’ve also lost a few matches against him. He’s in the quarterfinals of another Grand Slam, his level is really high right now, and he’s full of confidence. It’s going to be an interesting match.
I’ll try to learn from the mistakes I made against Shelton. I won’t do the same against Tommy. But I think, for the fans, it’ll be a really interesting match to watch. Every time we play each other, we raise our level to the top. We have great rallies, great points. I think it’ll be fantastic to watch as well. It’ll be a great quarterfinal.
