Terence Atmane continues to delight French fans in this Cincinnati tournament. Coming through qualifying, the young Frenchman has successively eliminated Cobolli, Fonseca, Fritz, and finally Rune to reach the semifinals of the American Masters 1000.
Facing world No. 1 and defending champion Sinner in the next round, the world No. 136 will need to pull off a major upset. But that’s not all—if he defeats the Italian, Atmane would find himself in a very unusual situation.
Indeed, due to the new 12-day format for Masters 1000 events, the Cincinnati final falls on Monday, the same day as the start of the US Open qualifiers, in which the Frenchman is scheduled to compete.
