Holger Rune will not compete in the Cincinnati Masters 1000 semifinals for the second consecutive year. The Dane was overpowered by the fiery play of qualifier Terence Atmane, who dominated the match (6-2, 6-3).
The world No. 9 made sure to send a message to the Frenchman after the match. On his X account (formerly Twitter), Rune congratulated his opponent, who will play his first Masters 1000 semifinal this weekend.
"I've known you since the juniors, Terence. Tennis is a tough journey, and I'm happy with your performance here in Cincinnati and what it will mean for your future. Good luck moving forward," wrote the 22-year-old Rune on social media in recent hours.
