"He has two arms and two legs, just like me," Atmane's words before his duel against Sinner
In the Cincinnati semifinals, Atmane will now face the mountain that is Sinner, who is on a 25-match winning streak on hard courts. Ahead of this clash, the Frenchman shared his thoughts with our colleagues at *L’Équipe*:
"A person with two arms and two legs, just like me. He’s world No. 1, he wins Grand Slams—good for him. Saturday will be a very interesting match for me. After beating the No. 4 and No. 9, I’ll get to measure myself against the No. 1.
I’ll see what the very, very top level looks like. I can’t wait, and I’ll attack it like any other match. Either way, I have nothing to lose. Since the start of the tournament, I’ve had nothing to lose, and that won’t change on Saturday."
For context, Atmane had never beaten a top 10 player before Cincinnati. With a record of 0-3, the world No. 136 completely turned things around by defeating Fritz and then Rune. Additionally, he had only won one match on the main tour this season (against Lajovic in Umag).
