"If I didn’t change my attitude at that moment, I would never have evolved," Swiatek’s confessions about her turning point before Wimbledon

Swiatek has once again proven she can defy expectations. Struggling to win a title since Roland-Garros 2024, the Pole had everyone worried after suffering back-to-back losses in Rome and then Paris. At Wimbledon, many didn’t give her much of a chance on a surface she had struggled to master.
However, the former world No. 1 shone, also benefiting from the early exits of many seeded players, to claim her first title at the legendary English tournament while dropping just one set. When asked about this achievement on former champion Roddick’s podcast, she explained that she had made a major change just weeks before the event:
"The shift in mindset came after Rome, where I wasn’t focused at all. I had a lot of negative thoughts, and I knew that if I didn’t change my attitude right then, I would never progress. Losing at Roland-Garros wasn’t a disaster because I knew I wasn’t playing well. You could say my success at Wimbledon didn’t start at Wimbledon—it began in Rome."
Now competing in Montreal, Swiatek is turning her attention to the American hard courts. She will begin her tournament against China’s Guo.
