Ill, Medvedev throws in the towel against Auger-Aliassime in Doha

After Andrey Rublev's qualification at the expense of Alex De Minaur in the first quarter-final, it's time to move on to the second match of the day at the Doha tournament.
Daniil Medvedev takes on Felix Auger-Aliassime for a place in the last four.
The Russian, in search of his best form, defeated defending champion Karen Khachanov and then Zizou Bergs in the first two rounds.
Comfortable against Auger-Aliassime, he has won 7 of the 8 meetings between the two men so far, but FAA won the last one at the Paris Olympic Games.
The Canadian, for his part, negotiated his opening match against Quentin Halys perfectly, winning in three sets, before benefiting from Hamad Medjedovic's withdrawal in the Round of 16.
The two men met in the semi-finals of the same tournament two years ago, with Medvedev coming out on top.
But this time, the scenario is different. Against a Medvedev who was not at 100% of his physical capacity, Auger-Aliassime, physically fresh after missing out on the last 16, took his opponent's serve, which was enough to win the first set.
The Russian didn't want to go any further. Ailing Daniil Medvedev finally threw in the towel (6-3 abandonment), leaving his opponent to reach the last four in Doha.
This Friday, Auger-Aliassime will play his third semi-final of the season against Andrey Rublev, after winning the Adelaide and Montpellier tournaments.
In head-to-head matches, the Russian currently leads 5-1, in a rematch of last year's Madrid Masters 1000 final on Spanish clay.
