Medvedev explains why he retired from Doha: I had food poisoning.

After losing the first set of his quarter-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev threw in the towel, visibly weakened.

In a post-match press conference, the Russian revealed the reasons for his withdrawal:

"I had food poisoning. I'm very disappointed to finish in this way in Doha, because I feel I played well. I can't wait to come back next year."

Medvedev, if he recovers in time, is expected next week at the ATP 500 in Dubai.

They travel so much to different countries it's no wonder they get upset stomachs or food poisoning.

You have to wonder what establishments these players eat in. Its almost always food poisoning if they have upset stomachs.
