Medvedev explains why he retired from Doha: "I had food poisoning".
After losing the first set of his quarter-final against Felix Auger-Aliassime, Daniil Medvedev threw in the towel, visibly weakened.
In a post-match press conference, the Russian revealed the reasons for his withdrawal:
"I had food poisoning. I'm very disappointed to finish in this way in Doha, because I feel I played well. I can't wait to come back next year."
Medvedev, if he recovers in time, is expected next week at the ATP 500 in Dubai.
