Elena Rybakina escaped the trap set by Dayana Yastremska this Saturday in Montreal. The Kazakh player advanced to the quarterfinals after a tight match, winning 5-7, 6-2, 7-5.

In the press conference, she spoke about her victory after a 2-hour and 33-minute battle: "I'm a bit tired with these long matches, but I'm managing.

Overall, I'm happy to be ready to play these long matches. I think, in the end, it's good preparation for the US Open.

Against Marta Kostyuk, I’ll try to focus on myself. I know she’s a fighter and a tough opponent physically.

I propose the following changes to the rules:

1...a walķover will not be a loss. We have no control of player's health. If he or she is entered in a contest we expect them to play.

2...an incomplete match is not a loss. If a player forfeits we pick another match if there are more to choose.

3...this also applies if TT cancels a match. TT will not take hours to decide an outcome.
