"I'm glad the clay season is over," says delighted Draper
Jack Draper was eliminated in the round of 16 at Roland Garros by the surprising Alexander Bublik. The British player is pleased to see the end of the clay season, a surface he doesn't particularly enjoy.
"Even though I'm devastated by the loss, I'm happy the clay season is over. That's a fact. I'm proud of how I adapted and rose to the challenge.
I thought this season would be a failure. I lost to Davidovich-Fokina in Monte-Carlo and told myself it was a disaster. But every week, I improved, I learned a lot.
Here, I won three matches and reached the fourth round. I probably didn't play better than in Madrid and Rome. Now I'm happy to return to a faster surface, where I feel much more comfortable.
Yes, I'm looking forward to the grass season."
Currently ranked 5th in the world and potentially 4th after Roland Garros, the British player can set high ambitions for Wimbledon, a tournament he'll play on home soil.
