I'm going to try to make him lose confidence in his serve," Musetti discusses his strategy before his duel against Mpetshi Perricard at the US Open
Lorenzo Musetti, ranked 10th in the world, has not won two consecutive matches on the main tour since early June at Roland-Garros.
A slump in results that he intends to correct at the US Open, where he faces a perilous first-round match against Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard, a semifinalist this week in Winston-Salem.
But the Italian already knows the tactics he will need to employ, having defeated an opponent with a similar playing style last year in New York.
"Last year, I faced Opelka in the first round here. Clearly, New York attracts big servers. It will be tough to handle; I'll have to be tactically smart, try to make him lose confidence in his serve, and show a lot of patience.
