It was an excellent idea," Raducanu reflects on her doubles participation with Alcaraz at the US Open
The star team of this new mixed doubles format at the US Open, Raducanu and Alcaraz, stirred up a great deal of media and fan excitement in the weeks leading up to the competition.
However, facing Pegula and Draper, the Spanish-British pair did not last long in the tournament, losing in straight sets (4-2, 4-2) in the very first round.
Asked about it in a press conference, Raducanu praised the organizers for this initiative, even advocating for the adoption of this format across all Grand Slams of the year:
"I think it would be a lot of fun if all Grand Slam tournaments did something similar, even if it's not the exact same format. I think it was a success; a lot of fans got involved with us.
Plus, playing with Carlos (Alcaraz) drew a lot of attention—it was an excellent idea. I had a lot of fun playing on the court with him.
