"I'm in a situation where I need matches," Tsitsipas explains his participation in the Winston-Salem tournament
Stefanos Tsitsipas has accepted a wild card granted by the organizers of the ATP 250 in Winston-Salem.
Seeking confidence, the Greek player justified his participation in this tournament to SDNA, a Greek media outlet: "It's a good way to prepare for the US Open. I've never played there before, so I don't know what it's like, but I'm really in a situation where I need matches.
I'll do my best. I just hope to gain confidence and start winning a few matches here and there. The US Open will be important for me, so I want to be really well prepared."
Tsitsipas hasn't strung together two consecutive wins since the Barcelona tournament last April.
