"I'm not in a condition to play a match," Jeanjean withdraws before facing Anisimova in Cincinnati

Léolia Jeanjean's run at the WTA 1000 tournament in Cincinnati came to an end in the second round. The Frenchwoman, who had come through qualifying after wins against Zhao and Masarova, did not want to end her tournament this way.
The world No. 95, who had secured the first WTA 1000 victory of her career in the previous round against Yuliia Starodubtseva (7-5, 1-6, 6-4), was unable to follow up against Amanda Anisimova due to a right calf injury sustained during her match against the Ukrainian.
"Unfortunately, I'm not in a condition to play a match. I tried everything possible, but it's not enough. I wish the best to my opponent, who has already had a great season, and I hope she goes far at the US Open as well," the 29-year-old player told *L'Équipe*.
Already exempt from the first round, Anisimova now advances to the third round without playing a single match and will face Anna Kalinskaya, who defeated Peyton Stearns (7-6, 4-6, 6-1), for a spot in the round of 16.
