Swiatek Easily Advances to Third Round in Cincinnati
The seeded players began their campaigns this Saturday in Cincinnati.
Starting at 11 a.m. local time, Iga Swiatek was on court to open her tournament against Anastasia Potapova, ranked 45th in the world. The two players had faced each other only once on the tour, with Swiatek winning 6-0, 6-0 last year at Roland-Garros.
On the hard courts of Cincinnati, Swiatek cruised to a 6-1, 6-4 victory in 1 hour and 12 minutes. She managed to break her opponent four times and won 90% of the points behind her first serve.
A perfect start for the world No. 3, who will face Marta Kostyuk for a spot in the round of 16.
