"I'm not sure about going to Cincinnati," admits Mboko ahead of her semifinal in Montreal
Victoria Mboko will compete in the coming hours for her first WTA 1000 final. At just 18 years old, the Canadian has defied expectations in this tournament, notably eliminating Coco Gauff in the round of 16.
Now, it’s Elena Rybakina who stands in her way at the gates of the final, just days after their clash in Washington, which the Kazakh player won (6-3, 7-5).
In a press conference, Mboko was asked about her thoughts on the new WTA 1000 format and also admitted she wasn’t yet 100% certain about playing in the Cincinnati tournament.
"As for the two-week tournaments, honestly... it’s all still new to me, so I haven’t had time to think about it and form an opinion on it.
For now, I think it’s great to have a day off between matches, but you know, there’s also a very demanding tournament next week. I’m just focused on what’s happening this week—I haven’t even had time to think about it.
Plus, I’m currently entered in Cincinnati, but I’m not sure if I’ll go. I want to see first how far I go here, so I’m leaving the question open—I don’t know yet," Mboko told *Punto de Break*.
