"I'm not too worried," reassures Monfils ahead of his match against Draper

Gaël Monfils gave himself a major scare during the first game of his match against Hugo Dellien after a fall against an advertising board. The incident caused some pain that bothered him during his match against the Bolivian.
In his post-match press conference, he wanted to reassure everyone about his condition: "The initial fall was tough. My hands were the most affected, but I also had pain in my knees and back.
The cut on my hands made it hard to grip the racket properly, and I felt intense tension throughout my body. I needed time to calm down and realize I could still play.
The anti-inflammatories I took helped, and now I have to assess how I’ll feel when I wake up tomorrow. I’m not too worried—I think with the physiotherapists’ help, I’ll be ready to compete."
Monfils will have his work cut out for him against one of this 2025 season’s in-form players: Jack Draper. Scheduled for a night session on Court Philippe Chatrier this Thursday, he hopes to spring a surprise with the crowd’s support.
