Halys Advances to the Third Round of Roland-Garros for the First Time in His Career

Quentin Halys continues his run. After his victory over Tomas Machac via retirement, the Frenchman qualified for the first time in his career for the third round of Roland-Garros by defeating Miomir Kecmanovic.
He won 4-6, 6-3, 7-6, 7-5 and had an advantage since he had only played a set and a half, while Kecmanovic came off a grueling five-set battle against Sebastian Baez.
Speaking to France 2 after the match, Halys shared his thoughts: "It's pretty incredible. The match was intense, there was a lot of wind, and the playing conditions were tough.
I’m really happy to have pulled through—it was a great match. I saved a lot of break points, and I felt like I served well and stayed aggressive. My first-serve percentage was disastrous, but I’m glad I managed to get through.
I really wanted to stay focused, though maybe I was a bit too passive at the start. In these conditions, it’s easy to lose concentration. There was also the rain delay, which wasn’t easy for either of us to handle.
It feels good to play in this atmosphere, even though I internalize a lot to maintain my focus, and I think that’s also why I was able to save so many set points and break points."
He will face either Holger Rune or Emilio Nava in the next round.
