In a season marked by injuries, Nishikori announces his return in Tokyo
Lacking competition for several months, Kei Nishikori is preparing his comeback in a tournament he knows well and where he has already reached three finals.
With only one match under his belt during the summer (a first-round loss in Cincinnati), Nishikori, at 35, is experiencing another season disrupted by injuries, despite having made a strong return to the spotlight by reaching the final in Hong Kong earlier this year.
Without a coach since his split with Thomas Johansson, the Japanese player will make his return at the end of the month at the ATP 500 in Tokyo, having received a wild card from the organizers. He has won the title twice in front of his home crowd, in 2012 and 2014, before reaching another final in 2018.
