"In the long term, I want to be world number one," Alexandra Eala displays her ambitions

A rising star on the women's circuit, Alexandra Eala surprised the tennis world last March by reaching the semifinals of the WTA 1000 in Miami. On her way, she eliminated two top 10 players: Keys (quarterfinals) and Swiatek (semifinals).
At just 20 years old, the Philippines native is ranked 70th in the world and already has a WTA 250 final under her belt (Eastbourne). These are performances she aims to maintain and even improve in the future:
"In the short term, I'm just trying to maintain my current level and take things week by week. In the long term, I want to be world number one, but that's still a long way off. For now, it's important to think big."
Recently, she competed in the WTA 1000 in Canada and lost in the first round to the Czech player Vondrousova (3-6, 6-1, 6-2).
