In Toronto, Mannarino wins his first match of the season in a Masters 1000
Adrian Mannarino has just ended a long drought in Masters 1000.
Since October 2024 and a second-round victory at Paris-Bercy, the Frenchman had not won a match in this category.
In Toronto, he fought through the qualifiers and was drawn against Marcos Giron in the main draw.
Despite a lack of first serves (48%) and struggles converting break opportunities (3/10), Mannarino pulled through with a score of 6-4, 6-4.
A first victory in eight months in Masters 1000, which will allow him to face world No. 7 Ben Shelton in the second round on Wednesday.
