Insolite - Alcaraz asks to play earlier to be able to follow the euro!
Carlos Alcaraz is a true tennis enthusiast, and it shows on the court. But the Spaniard isn't just passionate about tennis. He's also an absolute soccer fan. A supporter of Real Madrid as well as the Spanish national team, he makes no secret of his desire to follow his nation's matches.
Qualified for the last 16 of the Queen's tournament, the world number 2 is due to face Jack Draper this Thursday. Spain are due to face Italy in the group stage of the European Football Championship on the same day (9pm).
So the 21-year-old champion, who has come to London to defend his title, explained that he was going to ask the tournament to play earlier so that he could watch the match: "The Euro is every four years, so this is the time to support and watch Spain. I'll ask to play earlier."
Alcaraz seems to have got his wish, as he is scheduled to play in the second rotation on the Central, i.e. in the early afternoon (around 2.30pm).
