It was sad to miss Wimbledon, but I had time to prepare for my wedding," Ruud shares about his absence during the grass-court season

Casper Ruud returned to competition at the Toronto Masters 1000. The Norwegian, who advanced to the round of 16, will face Karen Khachanov today.
During an appearance on Tennis Channel, the two-time Roland-Garros finalist was asked about his absence from the grass-court swing and his withdrawal from Wimbledon. Ruud discussed the nature of his injury and what he did during his time off:
"I was sad to miss Wimbledon. I’ve made a few jokes about grass in the past, but I was genuinely sad. I watched the tournament almost every day on TV. I took time to rest and recover. I had a knee issue that had been bothering me for several weeks. It was inflammation causing discomfort throughout the entire knee.
For three weeks, I didn’t touch a ball. […] I also took the opportunity to do other things. I had time to plan my wedding for next year. I was very involved in the preparations and other things we usually don’t have time for. We took a few trips to find the perfect venue. I won’t tell you the location, but I can say it will be next summer.
Among the players who are invited, most of us will be paying for the wedding. So obviously, there are details I’m involved in, like the color scheme or what goes on the tables. I’ll let Maria (his fiancée) decide, but I just wanted to have a say on the venue, the date, and an idea of the cost—what I’m paying for.
