"It was tough when former British No. 1s made public comments," Murray on his compatriot Draper
In an interview with *The Guardian*, Murray discussed his compatriot Draper just days before Wimbledon. Honest as ever, the two-time tournament champion explained how public remarks from a former player could be hard to take, especially when playing on London’s grass courts for the first time. That’s why he prefers not to give Draper advice—or at least only in a more private setting:
"I try to stay away from that because when I first played at Wimbledon, it was really tough when former British No. 1s, or people you’ve watched on TV and admired, made public comments.
If I say, ‘This is what Jack should do,’ I’m almost certain that when he gets to Wimbledon, someone will tell him, ‘Andy said you should do this.’ And sometimes, that advice goes against what your coach is telling you. But obviously, I’ll talk to him privately."
Draper is currently in London, getting used to the conditions in training. He was notably spotted on Court No. 1 at the tournament alongside Musetti.
