It's nice to hear the same thing, but from a different coach," Zverev reflects on his collaboration with Toni Nadal
Alexander Zverev spent a week in July at the Rafa Nadal Academy, under the guidance of Toni Nadal. For Eurosport Spain, the German player looked back on this collaboration.
He stated: "It gave me a new perspective on my tennis. Sometimes it's nice to hear, maybe even the same thing, but from another coach. My father has coached me my whole life.
I have one of the best player-son, father-coach relationships that tennis has ever seen. I love my father. We never argue. We have the best possible relationship. But I also spent a lot of time with Rafa, which was good for me.
He has a good vision of my game because he has played against me, and now, as a spectator, he can tell me exactly what he thinks.
And he doesn’t need to beat around the bush. He can go over the facts—after all, he’s Rafael Nadal. If he talks about tennis, I think everyone will listen.
Spending time with Rafa and Toni was great. I hope you’ll see Toni again in the future. Their vision of tennis, their knowledge, is unmatched.
So I was very grateful to have had the opportunity to spend time with them.
