It's rare for the tennis world to witness such an improbable scenario as the one that unfolded in Shanghai. The Chinese Masters 1000 delivered a final that came out of nowhere: Valentin Vacherot, ranked 204th in the world, triumphed over Frenchman Arthur Rinderknech, his own cousin.

An unprecedented victory that didn't fail to draw a reaction from Karen Khachanov, currently the number 1 seed in the Almaty draw in Kazakhstan. On the eve of his own tournament debut, the Russian spoke candidly about this extraordinary final.

"This kind of scenario is magnificent for tennis. Two cousins in the final - it's science fiction. From a sponsor's perspective, we were expecting the headline players. And this final was clearly unexpected. But we should never underestimate these players. When you look at who they beat, you realize their level is there. They earned their place. Those who win should never be judged."

The message is clear: just because a player is outside the top 100 doesn't mean they're not capable of extraordinary feats. Vacherot's week is living proof.

Let's make that wish for all 2000 plus players hoping for 5 wins each day. Hoping ŵhen we open the results page to see all green, and no red. And especially NO CANCELED matches.

From me and my rotti JAZ, I bid you all good night, and see you in...

why did tennis tonic void predictions on the match between Chwalinska and Huergo at the Quito tournament? The match was played to completion and on time. If TT feels the match is one sided, and of course it was, then don't put it up for prediction. This is getting irritating.

The finals are here, and we scramble for the best finish. I've been chasing "King" all year and I was able to shrink the spread a little. Skelp is also closing the gap.

Seasons best to all the regulars in our league.

Will you all be back in the new year.?

Steffi Graf completed a Golden Slam (not just a career Grand Slam) when she was 19. She is the only person to accomplish that, winning the four majors plus Olympic gold the same calendar year.
