"It's the best moment of my career," Cobolli is on cloud nine after his title in Hamburg
This Saturday, Flavio Cobolli gained a boost of confidence before Roland-Garros. The Italian, who will face Marin Cilic in his opening match, won the ATP 500 tournament in Hamburg. In the final, the world No. 35 dominated Andrey Rublev (6-2, 6-4), allowing him to secure his second title of the season after Bucharest earlier in the year. After the match, the main winner reacted to his title.
"It's the best moment of my career, and the best match I've ever played in my life. My whole family is here, my friends, and my girlfriend too, it's a surprise for me. I didn't expect to play this well. I can't describe the happiness I feel right now.
It's a dream come true. I have to apologize to Andrey (Rublev), because I played excellent tennis today (Saturday). I am proud of myself, I am really happy.
I've had quite a few big battles this year, and winning this kind of match against players like Rublev is a great thing mentally," Cobolli assured ATP media after the match.
