"I've always been a bit different in how I got here," Rinderknech reflects on his journey
Qualified for the round of 16 at the US Open, Arthur Rinderknech will face Carlos Alcaraz this Sunday.
In a press conference, he looked back on his journey and discussed his collaboration with Lucas Pouille, which began during the grass court season.
"I've always been a bit different in how I got here. Starting with the US; in my youth, I never went to a training center, I never stopped my studies.
All of that is very different. Maybe I had normalized it too much; I needed to get back to my roots. Then we rebuilt with Lucas (Pouille) in the same way—he reached out to me, he's an exceptional guy—and my physio Olivier, who has been with me for a while and is taking on an even bigger role now.
I'm very lucky, not to mention the people by my side who aren't necessarily on the court, like my wife, who supports me every day.
It's a great blessing; we got married not long ago. Family gives me strength, as do very close, very intimate friends who do their part of the work," he said in remarks relayed by Tennis Actu.
