He's not world number one for nothing," Shapovalov reacts to his loss against Sinner at the US Open
Despite winning the first set, Denis Shapovalov fell to Jannik Sinner in the third round of the US Open.
In a press conference, the Canadian analyzed the match: "I managed to put him under pressure. Who knows if another player can do the same?
It's clearly a tough loss. He's not world number one for nothing. I had my chance in the third set, but he played brilliantly to turn the situation around. I know I'm capable of playing that kind of tennis at this level.
In a way, I'm happy, but also sad to have lost. Mentally, I think I played very well throughout the match. I'd say I've improved in that regard over the course of the season.
