After a disappointing season, Daniil Medvedev decided to part ways with his coach Gilles Cervara. To address this, he hired Thomas Johansson and Rohan Goetzke.

Changes that seem to be paying off for now as the Russian strings together positive results, highlighted by a title at the Almaty tournament.

Medvedev explains: "When I started talking with different people, I was looking for someone who saw tennis the same way I do and who knew it was impossible to completely change my game.

And it wasn't necessary: I've been in the Top 10 for a long time, and even number one. I needed to improve certain details. Keep the same foundation, but make small adjustments. That's what Thomas and Rohan are working on: there isn't a single stroke or anything in my game that has radically changed.

They pointed out several things that helped me: the serve, returns in important moments, volleys and net play... let's say my energy changed, I regained confidence in myself, and that's the most important thing.

That's why I feel like I'm recovering certain shots, for example, the serve or mid-court play. I've always known how to execute these shots, but I just needed the necessary confidence to succeed with them.

I want to play well at the end of the year, I want to have a good preseason... For me, it's not so much that I was excited about winning a title after two years, but rather about having regained my level against very tough opponents.

It was also my first tournament with my two daughters, so that makes me very happy.
