Medvedev reflects on his title in Almaty: "I'm simply happy to have found a very good level of tennis again"

Daniil Medvedev ended a long trophy drought by winning the ATP 250 tournament in Almaty last week.
Medvedev had been waiting for this moment for over two years. Competing at the ATP 250 tournament in Almaty last week, the Russian claimed the 21st title of his career by defeating Corentin Moutet in the final (7-5, 4-6, 6-3).
The 29-year-old player will now move on to the ATP 500 tournament in Vienna, where he will begin his campaign this Wednesday against Nuno Borges. The man himself reflected on his title in Kazakhstan before playing his first match in the Austrian capital.
"Honestly, the people around me, and even fans all over the world, are probably more excited than I am about this title. I'm someone who lives in the present and a little bit in the future.
I'm just really happy to have found a very good level of tennis again, because that's what allowed me to win the title. And now we're going to Vienna. Let's go and do even more. I want to play well here, in Paris, and next year.
I want to have a good preseason. When I won, I didn't tell myself, 'Wow, I finally did it after two years'. I was simply happy with my level of tennis against tough opponents, even if some of them didn't have the best rankings.
The match against Duckworth (in the semifinals), during the first two sets, and even though he dropped in intensity a bit in the third set, it was top 5 level. Rankings don't matter, we saw that with Vacherot in Shanghai.
I'm happy because this is my first title with both my daughters and my wife all together, and I'm happier about that than thinking about how it had been two years since I last won a tournament," Medvedev told ATP media.
