Jabeur, ambassador for the World Food Programme: "Food inequalities are heartbreaking"
Ons Jabeur will participate in the WTA 1000 tournament in Indian Wells. For her debut in the California desert, the 30-year-old Tunisian, ranked 32nd in the world, will face Dayana Yastremska for the first time in her career.
A spot in the third round, which could potentially see her face Iga Swiatek (if the Polish player also overcomes Caroline Garcia), is at stake.
Jabeur is not only a role model for Tunisian and more broadly African sports thanks to her performances on the court over the years, but also for her actions off the court.
Highly regarded on the WTA tour, Ons Jabeur was named in 2024 as one of the ambassadors for the United Nations World Food Programme (WFP).
In an interview with the BBC, Ons Jabeur, who recently participated in the development of some aid projects in Cairo, Egypt, reflected on her role.
"I wanted to be able to represent the woman I am and where I come from, to try to make a difference in the world. People think the WFP is only related to food, but it is also an education and women's aid program.
When you help women, they have the opportunity to work and provide for the whole family, which is very important. In Cairo, I baked bread with one of the women, and you have no idea how big their hearts are.
She almost gave me everything she had made, and I told her, 'No, please, keep it!' Even though they don't have enough, they were very generous, and that's what everyone should do.
Another woman went to school very late. I told her she was very brave, and she said she was very proud to accompany her child to school because she had never received an education before. It was truly a beautiful example.
Another goal of the WFP is to eradicate food shortages. Food inequalities are heartbreaking.
We are in 2025, and we still have hunger problems in the world, which should not be the case if we were more united and more humane towards each other. I believe that every person has the right to at least one meal a day," Jabeur explained.
I stake them and I share it with those who need a 100% sure and guaranteed win. The match is a fixed match and you must win. If you need it let me know, and if you have doubts, I can give you one for free.
