Jack Draper Injured But Registered for UTS? Mouratoglou Responds
Jack Draper was expected to write off tennis until the end of 2025. But to everyone's surprise, he could return much sooner. Patrick Mouratoglou, organizer of UTS, addresses this issue.
Last August, Jack Draper withdrew from the second round of the US Open against Zizou Bergs: his arm injury, sustained before Wimbledon, was going to force him to put an end to his season until the end of 2025.
But since that shocking announcement, the young prodigy doesn't seem as far from the circuit as that. He was spotted training at the National Tennis Centre in London. Moreover, he is officially listed among the participants for the UTS grand final, scheduled from December 5th to 7th in London.
Questioned by BBC Sport, Patrick Mouratoglou, creator of the Ultimate Tennis Showdown, did not try to keep the suspense going.
"He was very confident, otherwise he wouldn't have accepted the invitation. You can't play with a bone bruise. The risk is a stress fracture. You have to wait until it's completely healed. But Jack knows that, he's intelligent and very well supported.
You can maintain very good physical shape by doing fitness. But as long as he doesn't hit intensely, he's not at risk. He's on the right track, but we shouldn't rush things. But Jack will play."
