Jacquemot Defeats Linette and Secures First Career Win at Wimbledon
After a successful Roland-Garros where she reached the third round, Elsa Jacquemot confirms her current strong form.
The French qualifier faced world No. 27 Magda Linette in her first-round match at Wimbledon. After losing the first set despite leading 5-2, Jacquemot managed to regroup and dominate the next two sets, winning 6-7, 6-1, 6-4 in 2 hours and 35 minutes.
This first victory on the London grass will virtually propel her to a career-high ranking of world No. 100. For a spot in the third round, she will face Belinda Bencic, who crushed Alycia Parks (6-0, 6-3) in her Wimbledon debut.
