Jacquemot Eliminated, Burel Wins All-French Showdown Against Paquet in Antalya
The quarterfinals of the WTA 125 in Antalya are set. Three French players were present at this stage of the competition, including Elsa Jacquemot. The 21-year-old, who had comfortably won her first two matches, faced Maja Chwalinska, a Polish player ranked 131st in the WTA.
In a closely contested match that went down to the wire, Chwalinska, aided by her opponent's service struggles (1 ace against 8 double faults for Jacquemot), held her nerve better.
The Polish player sealed the victory while serving for the match for the second time (6-0, 6-7, 7-5 in 3 hours and 20 minutes). Chwalinska will face Leyre Romero Gormaz in the semifinals.
In the all-French clash between Clara Burel and Chloé Paquet, it was the former, returning to the circuit this week after several months away, who secured a spot in the semifinals in her first tournament of 2025.
The Rennes native dominated her compatriot (6-2, 6-4), who couldn't capitalize after her two strong opening wins against Arango and Zidansek. Burel will face Arantxa Rus or Anca Todoni for a place in the final this Saturday in Turkey.
