Jannik Sinner guaranteed to finish the year as world No.1!
Following Carlos Alcaraz's defeat by Tomas Machac in the quarter-finals in Shanghai, Jannik Sinner is now guaranteed to end the season as world No.1. The Italian thus succeeds Novak Djokovic, who finished the year at the top of the ATP rankings for the record 8th time in his career in 2023.
Having already become the first Italian representative to be ranked number 1 in the world in June, Sinner continues to make history. He will be the 19th player in history to finish the year at the top of the rankings, emulating, in addition to Djokovic, such tennis legends as Pete Sampras, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, Jimmy Connors, John McEnroe, Ivan Lendl, Björn Borg, Stefan Edberg, Lleyton Hewitt, Andre Agassi and Gustavo Kuerten.
