Jarry annoyed by Sinner's doping affair: "I wish I'd had the same support as him when it happened to me".
Nicolas Jarry will take on world No.1 and defending champion Jannik Sinner on Monday at Rod Laver Arena (from 2pm local time, 4am in France).
The Chilean, ranked 34th in the world, has come a long way following a doping suspension of almost a year, between December 2019 and November 2020.
Two anabolic steroids (ligandrol and stanozolol) had been detected during a doping test, but the investigation against him had revealed contamination via dietary supplements.
This contamination is reminiscent of the case involving Jannik Sinner, his future opponent.
Interviewed in Melbourne by the Chilean newspaper La Tercera, Jarry expressed his frustration at the difference in the way the world No. 1's case was handled:
"I would have liked to have had the same support as him when it happened to me. It's something that affects me personally.
I'm trying to work on it, talk about it, not let it affect me, but it's something I can't forget."
