Jarry responds to his critics after an early elimination in Santiago: "I hope you are as critical of yourselves and your children as you are with me."
Nicolas Jarry was defeated yesterday in the first round of the Santiago tournament by Camilo Ugo Carabelli, despite having three match points in the tie-break of the third set.
A fourth loss in five matches is starting to weigh on the shoulders of the Chilean, who has dropped to 69th in the world rankings this week. On his Instagram account, he decided to post a long message to express his feelings after this tough defeat:
"I wish yesterday's result had been different, but it wasn't. I guess that's how life is sometimes, it's difficult. But I know that it's through failures that we grow the most.
It's not easy to come back on the circuit after missing six months of competition. But I'm here, trusting in the process and trying to rebuild confidence. [...]
I wish there weren't any tough moments. I try to work hard and push myself, but sometimes that's the path we have to take.
For those who criticize, I hope you are as critical of yourselves and your children as you are with me. And for those who support me, thank you.
I still have a lot to prove. I will step back now to come back stronger at Indian Wells."
