Jeanjean eliminated in Colina, no Frenchwoman left in Chile
The last Frenchwoman to take part in the WTA 125 tournament in Colina, Léolia Jeanjean was eliminated in the last 16.
Despite an excellent start, the 29-year-old was unable to keep up the pace and was eventually toppled by Maria Carle. The Argentine, ranked 94th in the world and seeded number 2 in Chile, won (1-6, 6-1, 6-1).
The day before, Kristina Mladenovic had also been beaten in the second round. The former world no. 10 was dominated by Darja Semenistaja (6-4, 7-6).
For her part, Chloé Paquet, who was not at her best after the play-off loss to Colombia a few days earlier, withdrew at the last minute.
As a result, there are no French players left in the South American tournament.
