For his 20th Wimbledon, Novak Djokovic began his fortnight with a win against Alexandre Müller.
The seven-time tournament champion, still chasing a 25th Grand Slam at 38 years old, needed four sets (6-1, 6-7, 6-2, 6-2) to overcome his opponent of the day. Müller was heroic in the second set, saving eleven break points and six set points, but it wasn't enough to shake the former world No. 1 for the rest of the match.
Still undefeated in the first round of Wimbledon since his debut in the tournament in 2005, Djokovic will face Dan Evans in the second round. The British player won their only previous meeting on the tour on the clay courts of Monte-Carlo in 2021.
